"In some countries, practices in hiring are legally prohibited, such as in the United States, especially concerning gender, where differences are not obstacles to work. Nevertheless, gender bias in the workplace remains a significant barrier to the professional advancement of many people in Thailand.

Data from the PwC Thailand Economic Research Institute, which collected job postings in Thailand from October 2020 to July 2023, covering over 5,500 employers and more than 300,000 job postings, found that the Thai labor market still specifies age and gender limitations.

For positions requiring less than a bachelor's degree, nearly 40% specify a preference for one gender. For positions requiring a master's degree or higher, only 6% specify a gender preference.

Most positions requiring males tend to be technical or construction jobs, while those requiring females are often in accounting or administrative roles.

JobsDB by SEEK, Thailand's leading job hiring platform,

has adopted a 'Fair Hiring' policy since 2021. Fair Hiring involves implementing diversity and inclusion measures in the workplace, ensuring that organizations do not discriminate against any individual or group during the hiring process.

During Pride Month in June each year, JobsDB by SEEK promotes equality and encourages employers to advertise job openings without age, gender, ethnic, nationality, marital status, or other limitations. They aim to attract suitable candidates based on knowledge and experience, supporting the equal treatment of individuals in all aspects.

Dwongphrom Phrom-on, JobsDB by SEEK's Managing Director, emphasized that the platform places great importance on respecting human rights and is the first job recruitment platform in Thailand to advocate for equality and embrace individual differences.

JobsDB by SEEK has been recognized as an exemplary organization promoting gender equality by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security in 2021.

SEEK's main policy,

'Fair Hiring,' is also practiced across 8 APAC countries, aiming to reduce recruitment challenges while increasing opportunities for diverse candidates, thereby enhancing their chances of success.

Dwongphrom added that JobsDB by SEEK has studied the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals in the workplace, finding that they face restricted job applications, fear of disclosing their identity, discomfort, career stagnation, and discriminatory client treatment, remarks, and comments. It is essential for organizations with LGBTQ+ employees to focus on inclusivity and support, ensuring equal treatment for all individuals.

Although acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals in Thailand has improved significantly, there is still much room for development and improvement in various aspects. Many organizations are currently adjusting to this, offering promising signs that LGBTQ+ individuals will be fully accepted by society in the future.

JobsDB by SEEK is honored to be a catalyst in promoting workplace equality in the Thai job market, supporting human rights and respecting personal equality in all respects, particularly in employment and recruitment practices."
